For freelance developers
Keep the whole job on the timesheet.
Discovery calls, debugging, and release follow-up are part of the job, too. Track them alongside the build so your invoice reflects the work you did.
Example invoice
Feature delivery
| Work | Time | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Technical discovery | 45m | $90 |
| Development | 2h 30m | $300 |
| Testing and handoff | 1h | $120 |
4h 15m of work
Billed at $120 per hour
$510
An invoice with the time and work details behind the total.
Day-to-day challenges
The time that is easy to miss
Debugging stretches beyond the estimate, but the extra time never gets logged.
A quick support request interrupts a build and disappears from the timesheet.
A client asks what went into the invoice after the project has shipped.

Answers for your workflow
Frequently asked questions
Does SOWLedger connect to GitHub?
There is no native GitHub integration. Use timers, manual entries, or completed calendar blocks to record your work. API access and webhooks are available for custom integrations.
Can I explain the hours on an invoice?
Yes. Invoice details include the linked time entries, work descriptions, hours, and rates. Review descriptions before making an invoice available to a client.
Can I track ongoing support work?
Yes. Log short requests against the client's project and review them together. SOWLedger does not automatically bill recurring retainers.
